Live: Jamie T

As with ticket buying these days, the struggle to get tickets to see London born singer Jamie T is just a reflection of his growing popularity. Fortunately, I was lucky enough to get tickets to see him at Sheffield’s 02 Academy on Friday as part of his packed UK tour. The gig did not disappoint, despite his recent flu causing him to cancel a couple shows, Jamie was energetic, engaging and eager to please.

I loved how the layout of the 02 Academy made the gig seem intimate despite it being such a large crowd and, if expensive drinks and the lack of a seated ticket option aren’t important factors, a venue I would recommend. Despite it being a Friday night the crowd were only as rowdy as expected for a Jamie T gig; most of the time adding to the experience but sometimes ruining it.

The set list had the right balance of old and new tracks focusing mainly on his most recent album ‘Trick’, released early September this year, including my personal favourite ‘Solomon Eagle’. However, the clear crowd pleasers were his debut singles ‘If You Got The Money’ and ‘Sheila’ which launched the young singer into the charts originally.

Jamie T’s tour concludes with:
1th November – Amsterdam
15th November – Bournemouth (sold out)
16th November – London
17th November – Liverpool (sold out)

I have no doubt that Jamie T will be touring more in Europe and appearing at festivals this summer, so if you get the chance he’s worth checking out. If you can battle with his slightly aggressive fan-base that is.

Love
Lizzie
